Mix similar colors, contrasting with bright, primary color patterns and shapes to excite your baby’s senses and imagination. If you don’t like pink and frilly fabrics, look for exciting geometric shapes, animals, polka dots, sunsets, stars or even sports themes like figure skating, swimming and soccer. Bedding sets consist of 3 pieces to 6 pieces and beyond. 3 piece sets include a fitted sheet, bumper and comforter. 6 pieces may also include a diaper stacker, window valance and dust ruffle. All pieces should be machine washable, and the bumpers made of soft but durable foam. The fitted sheet should fit tightly around the mattress to prevent it from being loosened. Comforters or anything soft such as pillows, quilts or cushions should not be in the crib when baby is sleeping, as it could cause suffocation.
