Sweet Dreams To The Bundled Up Bundle of Joy!

The rituals of bedtime are varied and sometimes complicated. Some babies need to be rocked to sleep. Others need a lap or two in the family car before finding themselves in slumber land. We all hope that the routine will become, well, routine. Dinner, a bath, a story or lullaby and a bottle, and at least 8 hours before the first stirrings of baby are heard over the baby monitor the next morning.

Cribs Are Practical But Cradles Are Soothing!

Making sure baby is comfortable is important for everyone in the house. If she isn’t happy, no one is happy. If your little angel is having trouble falling asleep, maybe set up a baby cradle in your room on those nights when nothing else seems to work. Make sure you are prepared by having extra baby cradle bedding in case baby spits up or has an accident during the night. These bedsheets likely will not fit on a regular crib mattress but sizes do vary by manufacturer, so keep shopping around for money-saving ideas that can extend the life on anything and everything baby needs. If she is still fussy, you may want to put her in a sling carrier and walk around with her. The motion of your stride may just lull her to sleep . . .finally!

Planning The Nursery

If you hate to decorate, and picking patterns and paint colors is not for you, everything will change when it comes to setting up a baby nursery! You will agonize over themes, color palettes and accessories that will make the nursery just perfect for the new addition. Having a theme tends to help with the direction for the baby bedroom decor. Themed nurseries are easily put together, as everything from wall decals to window treatments are color coordinated with matching sheets and bed skirts. Mobiles, pillow case, and even changing pad covers can also be found in the theme of your choice. If you decide to travel a road less traveled, the choices for your dream nursery are as vast as a child’s imagination.

Bring Dad Into The Planning Too!

Cribs, carriers, cradles, changing stations (and that’s just the Cs!!) can be a cause for an anxiety attack. Luckily you have a few months to get things going before the baby makes his appearance. There is still plenty of time to talk dad out of decorating the baby’s room in silver and black for his favorite NFL football team. However, it would be nice to make sure dad’s team is represented, if not on such a large scale. The nursery should be a place for the whole family to enjoy and be represented.

Safety Is Always First

Do your research and make sure everything you bring into your home for baby’s use is up to safety standards set by Federal Law. Most manufacturers are up to par on the latest safety regulations, but if you are using a hand me down baby nursery furniture set, make sure these pieces are safe to be used in the baby’s nursery. The Baby Bjorn carrier, as well as every other brand of carrier on the market, has weight and length requirements to make sure that the product is used properly at the right development stage for baby. Cradles, too, have a weight limit, and are not designed for long term use.

Having a baby is a life altering event, and the vortex that comes with it is all encompassing. Planning ahead, shopping smart for double-duty items, and making safety a priority will make feathering your nest a lot more fun than watching dad’s football team finish dead last.
